The pistes appeal to the intermediate skier with the Checrout area getting the morning sun. And in the afternoon the north west facing slopes at Val Veny are popular to follow the sun again. The slopes are not considered high and are between 5,600 ft and 7,400 ft. Those which are north facing have good snow but if there is a snow drought the snowmaking ensures good skiing throughout the holiday. For the experts the black runs are good but not too challenging but with powder snow between the trees a great time is had by all.
There are classic off piste runs from Cresta d'Alp and hell drops, especially good is the 12 mile run starting at the Ruitor glacier into France. Off piste with a guide is popular for the experienced skier but remember for new skiers it can be quite steep in the blue areas. Some good runs for the boarders too which will be mentioned in the guide book. There are 16 lifts and at weekends it can become busy when the Italians come to relax. |
