This is classed as medium size but has excellent runs with slopes which are open, glade and wooded making an attractive mix.
The slopes divide between Copper Mountain and Union Creek and from the main base there are fast quads to both. Three Terrain Parks beside the American Flyer Chair with facilities for those just learning or know a little right up to the experienced skier. The beginners have excellent nursery slopes with easy green runs waiting when the confidence builds up. Intermediates can choose between the top to bottom green runs through long blues to black runs in various areas. The terrain is good for the experts with slopes from reasonably moderate to seriously steep, but vertical is more limited.
The slopes are great for the snowboarders catering for all levels of skill and with trails of 15 miles through the White River forest it's a must for the Cross Country lovers. The visitors collect at weekends so expect a queue for the lifts but when they return to the city weekdays are back to normal. No shortage of schools with a great selection of courses and a good reputation for encouraging the children with special fun trails and their own map. Both Copper Mountain and Union Peak are 12,300 ft high which is a fair size and good for all the family. Alongside the facilities for the children there is also a park for the experts with the extra thrill of big jumps. The recently opened jib park is lively at night and is free !
